Dance (2023no.23) is a sequence of interlocking still images developed from digital photos and illustrations. I composite stills into scenes and tessellate scenes into patterns. Patterns interact and evolve into an abstract composition. The composition concludes by returning to the original scenes exploring the effect of pattern-interaction on the initial imagery.

I mixed and mastered the accompanying audio track directly from the images using image-to-audio conversion software. Dance (2023no.23) exhibits the sectional structure of a musical arch form, ABCBA: Scenes (A) followed by Patterns (B), Interactions (C), recapitulation of Patterns (B) and recapitulation of Scenes (A). The three drones of the original audio track echo this structure.
